An Actors Immersion Workshop that guides you through many phases of creating and playing a role. You’re given a series of homework assignments, a challenging inspiring introduction to the weekend at the orientation then a marathon of evocative exercises in class on day one. This culminates into day two with your role being professionally videoed and you getting a compelling scene for your demo reel. SAN ANTONIO: AUGUST 3-4-5
The 48 Hour Acting Bootcamp is for Actors that want a deeply immersive acting experience and a powerful scene for your demo reel at a reasonable price. Learn empowering techniques to help you create rich, compelling and memorable characters from Brad Milne, veteran coach and a co-star of the upcoming Lifetime MOW “You Killed My Mother” as the ignominious Casey Flay. This two-day intensive workshop and comprehensive course provides mission critical knowledge for all levels of actors.
Milne began coaching actors in 1999 with the opening of his first studio and continues to successfully train actors in Canada and the USA. Brad’s approach helps actors create compelling memorable characters and book roles in studio and indie films, TV-series, MOW’s, and stage. As a Film, TV, and Stage Actor he extensively studied with top coaches in Los Angeles and Toronto. Born from a relentless work ethic over 25+ years Milne arrived at PERGE a powerful script interpretation and character creation technique that is quickly digested and compellingly applied by actors at all levels.
We cover all aspects of the Milne Studio training system, overview the journey you’ll take and make plans to ensure a productive outcome for all.
THE INTERPRETATION – A comprehensive, thorough and in-depth investigation into Milne’s technique, PERGE which helps you effectively breakdown scripts and sides giving you stronger role prep, character creation and improved audition skills. Consistently applying precise interpretive steps helps you create deeper and more dimensionally.
THE FOUNDATION – You’ll engage in breathing, energy, voice, movement, interpersonal connection, improvisation, storytelling, monologues, scene study and performance exercises. By the end of the day you’ll be immersed in character and ready to play the role, with residue of the day’s work present until the next morning. Applying best practices greatly improves both acting and performance ability.
THE SET – The day starts with a brief warm up (foundation and interpretation exercises) and discussion about pacing through a shoot day. Learning to connect and reconnect with your role is essential. In character and ready to play the role you’ll move into our on-camera environment. While directors love it when actors hit it on the first take, we’re often called upon to repeat a scene or parts of a scene several times for coverage. Actors have to be ready.
THE PERFORMANCE – Time to step into the ring. Like any sport or engagement, proper preparation is critical to your success. The same applies in acting: we must precisely prepare for the part, make the focus of the work the back, front, top, bottom and all the sides of the role, then trust that we can let the prep go and live in the present, breathing quietly in our bodies on screen. We professionally shoot your performance with a Canon 6D and ZOOM H4n audio recorder, then master it and deliver it to you via Vimeo.
